Why are Superfans so special to your business?
Fans are important for your business, who share your content on social media, buy stuff from you and even recommend you sometimes.
But Superfans are more important than any of the fans your business has encountered. Have you ever wondered, what’s the difference between fans & Superfans. What makes Superfans so special?
So here is what Kelly Kevin’s longer description says about what Superfans are and what they are willing to do for you:
A True Fan is defined as someone who will purchase anything and everything you produce. They will drive 200 miles to see you sing. They will buy the super deluxe re-issued hi-res box set of your stuff even though they have the low-res version. They have a Google Alert set for your name. They bookmark the eBay page where your out-of-print editions show up. They come to your openings. They have you sign their copies. They buy the t-shirt, and the mug, and the hat. They can’t wait till you issue your next work. They are true fans.
Have you ever wondered why almost every song on BTS gets HIT and ranked the billboard or how Logan paul made 3 million dollars in just 3 days.
The Answer is simple, The smallest portion of their fanbase.

The Pyramid Of Fandom
This whole book revolves around this idea of Pat Flynn, The Pyramid of Fandom, which is nothing but a hierarchy that categorizes every person you have ever encountered your brand or business into four distinct levels: Casual, Active, Connected Community, and Superfans.
- Casual Audiences: Your casual audience makes up the largest segment of your audience. These are the peoples who don’t find you because they know you but rather via a recommendation, mention, a link or related video.
- Active Audiences: Your active audience is the group who knows you, what you or your brand have to offer. When you create, share, publish something new these audiences mostly engage with your content.
- Connected Community: Your connected community are those peoples who you can communicate with easily, but they are also having conversation with each other. This is where the majority of your comment, feedback and survey results will come from.
And the last segment of your Pyramid of fandom is the superfans segment. This segment on the top of the pyramid is the most important segment in all your audiences. This segment is the smallest segment in your pyramid but packs a whole lot of power.
Fans are Important, But Superfans are everything
Finally! What’s Inside this 224 pages long book, what content I’m going to get. Now we are going to have an In depth look Inside this book.
The author has divided this book into 5 parts, where the first 4 parts focus on turning the casual audiences to Superfan. And in the last part the author discusses the disadvantages of Superfans.
Let’s have a brief look Inside!
Part 1: Casual Audiences to Active Audiences
The part one of Superfans include 5 chapters introducing the five best strategies to turn the casual audience into an active audience that engage with your content and stay updated with all your stuff.
We begin with the base of the pyramid, your casual audiences, who just discovered you. They stumbled upon your brand through a guest post, google search, mention, or a podcast and now they are here because of their curiosity. They might visit your channel or website often to see what you’re up to but they are not connected.
And our mission here is to help bring these casual audiences members, peoples who’ve just introduced to you and what you have to offer, to the next level of the pyramid, where they become members of your active audiences.
To move people from casual audiences to active audiences, you need to create a moment of activation – something that connects them to you and makes them go, “Oh that’s different, I like it.”
The Five strategies is all about turning casual audiences to active participants in your brand:
- Chapter 1: Learn the Lyrics
- Chapter 2: Break the Ice
- Chapter 3: Create Quick Win
- Chapter 4: Drive the DeLorean
- Chapter 5: Return Every Handshake
Part 2: Active Audiences to Connected Community
Now casual audiences have decided to follow you in some way, It could be by joining your email list or just subscribing or following you.
They are fully aware who you are and what you have to offer. They may share your content on their social media, and something from you as well.
Within the connected community the voluntary engagement happens. First there is connection with you, the owner or the creator. Beyond that, is where the magic happens, is the communication or the connection between the members of the community.
The group started to form its own identity, and members can more easily relate to it easily to one another.
The second part of this book is the same as it sounds. The second part includes 8 strategies focused on moving your active audience to a connected community.
Part 3: Connected Community to Superfasns
Finally comes the “Superfans” phase, By following the strategies laid out in this book you can make a raving fan base for your brand.
The 3rd part focuses on creating the extra special moment for you fans, that turns them into Superfans.
Part 4: The Dark Side of Supefans
As Tony stark say “I don’t trust a guy without a bad side”
Having your own base of superfans who trust you and purchase everything you recommend or sell is good.
But there are some hidden traps of having superfans, In this section the author has spent some time talking about the disadvantages of Superfans.
And it’s probably the final section of the book.
Within this part the book overview has finished, Now let’s talk about some bonus, Pat offers to the buyers.
So our review has now come to an end. If you are a content creator (like me) , I will highly recommend this book to you.
Superfans is organized logically. The author has used an inverted pyramid graphic to explain the structure in the introduction. Pat Flynn also offers a free companion course with a worksheet behind each chapter.
The author has also included stories that do not let you get bored while reading and at the same time provide you with an awesome level of value.
